This workshop is based on a multilateral collaboration between GPU programming specialists from the Nordic countries. It is meant to help both software developers and decision-makers navigate the GPU programming landscape and make more informed decisions on which languages or frameworks to learn and use for their projects.
Date: 12-14 November 2024
This introductory course is aimed at MRes/PhD students, researchers, clinicians, and other professionals working in the fields of genomics, exposomics, epidemiology, or toxicology with an interest in understanding how interactions between genes and the environment underlie human phenotypes. The course will cover the underlying concepts, computational resources, and computational modelling methods available to investigate interactions between genes and the environment (including social, biological, and physical exposures).
Registration deadline: 15 December 2024
Date: 17 - 21 March 2025
The event is tailored for Bioinformaticians and Computational Biologists. It is an excellent opportunity for researchers and students working with biological data who are keen on exploring new bioinformatics methods, workflows, or challenges.
Registration deadline: 26th October 2024
Date: 7-8 November 2024
This course introduces scientific researchers and PhD students to Notion, a versatile and powerful tool for productivity and organisation. Participants will learn to use Notion to streamline their workflows, manage their research projects, and enhance collaboration with colleagues. By the end of the course, attendees will have a deep understanding of Notion’s features and practical strategies to integrate them into their daily routines.
This course introduces you to the essentials of interacting with Large Language Models (LLMs). You’ll learn why chatbots are increasingly relevant and how mastering the skill of prompting can significantly reduce work time. Through hands-on exercises, you’ll gain practical experience in crafting precise prompts, ensuring you can leverage LLMs for a variety of tasks.
This course is aimed at wet-lab researchers who are generating, planning on generating, or working with single cell RNA sequencing data.

On October 4th, 2024, the Digit 2024 event in Tartu brought together leaders in technology and academia to celebrate the best of the software domain. Among the standout speakers was ELIXIR Estonia’s own Uku Raudvere, who delivered an insightful presentation on “The Impact of Scientific Programmers in Academia”.
The BeYond-COVID (BY-COVID) project aimed to provide extensive open data on SARS-CoV-2 and other infectious diseases, emphasizing the mobilization of raw viral sequences to monitor the spread of variants. To ensure global collaboration, it enabled federated data analysis, managed metadata, and facilitated long-term cataloguing. Success stories can be read here, on page 16 is project lead by University of Tartu: Infectious Diseases Toolkit.
This course is addressed to life scientists, bioinformaticians and researchers who are familiar with writing Python code and core Python elements and would like to explore if further in their daily data wrangling and exploration tasks.
