Crash Course in Data Management is an introductory course that equips researchers with the necessary skills for effective organisation and management of research data. Participants will gain knowledge of best practices in file naming, file organisation, data backup, data preservation and sharing. We will go through exercises and assignments to reinforce new knowledge.

In May, the University of Tartu Institute of Computer Science and ELIXIR Estonia had the pleasure of hosting a productive ELIXIR Week, featuring both the ELITMa and a co-located Interoperability Platform workshop. From May 19th to 22nd, data management experts and colleagues from 11 ELIXIR Nodes across Europe gathered at the Institute of Computer Science to focus on key research data management and interoperability areas.

Data visualisation (theory) - 20.03.2025

Researchers often face overwhelming raw data, making it crucial to utilize data visualization effectively. This skill transforms complex datasets into clear, insightful narratives, avoiding the pitfalls of misinterpretation through poor design. In this course, we’ll explore optimal chart types for different data, engage in interactive exercises, discuss best practices, and learn about the data-ink ratio and color selection, all illustrated with practical examples.

This course will be followed up by Tableau and Microsoft Power BI courses for beginners in April.
